Results – Los Angeles & Surrounding Counties

Below I have detailed noteworthy results from Los Angeles criminal cases, San Bernardino criminal cases, Orange County criminal cases, and Riverside criminal cases.

Hit & Run – ALL CHARGES DISMISSED
Vehicle Code section 20002
Los Angeles County – Pomona Courthouse

After fleeing the scene of an accident where the other driver was very aggressive, causing my client to have safety concerns, my client was charged with a misdemeanor after the other driver notified the police.  I was able to have the case completely dismissed and my client did not suffer a conviction.

Drug Trafficking (Worth Over $1,000,000)
180 DAYS HOUSE ARREST AND PROBATION!
Health and Safety Code section(s) 11352(a), 11379(a), 11378, 11351, 11366.8(a)
Los Angeles County – Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Courthouse (CCB)

A joint task force of the FBI and local police had followed a man up from San Diego who allegedly transferred the package to my client, who admitted her involvement to the police, although she was not a sophisticated criminal and, in my opinion, was an elderly pawn/victim of the Mexican cartels.   My client was looking at over a decade in prison as she had allegedly transported over $1,000,000 worth of heroin, cocaine, and fentanyl.  First, I was able to secure house arrest for her for the duration of her criminal case, despite objections by the District Attorney.  Her first plea bargain offer was 9 years… I was then able to secure a plea bargain where my client served only 180 days additional of house arrest along with being placed on probation.

Drug Sales – Time Served and Misdemeanor Probation
Health and Safety Code section 11352
Los Angeles County – Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Courthouse (CCB)

My client was allegedly observed to have sold drugs in downtown Los Angeles.  The prosecution wanted felony probation and an additional 180 days jail time.  At the preliminary hearing I successfully impeached some of the officer’s testimony, as he now had several new key pieces of information that were never in his original reports.  After, I was able to secure a plea bargain for my client where he would serve no additional jail time and receive misdemeanor (informal) probation.

Restraining Order Request – Restraining Order Granted/Charges Filed!
Los Angeles County – Pasadena Courthouse

While I normally practice criminal law, occasionally I will meet or confer with victims of crimes who I offer my services to, as I can zealously represent victims of crimes as well as the accused.  In this matter, my client had been harassed for years by an ex-boyfriend, interfering with her job and mental health.  I was able to secure a permanent restraining order for her despite the defendant’s attempts to evade the legal system.  Moreover, I was able to guide my client through talking with law enforcement, and we successfully had the defendant charged with multiple crimes.

Vandalism – ALL CHARGES DISMSSED
Penal Code section 594
San Bernardino County – San Bernardino Courthouse

Client was accused of vandalism five years prior, but was never arrested or notified of the charge.  After working with the backed-up San Bernardino court system I was able to have the case completely dismissed due to lack of prosecution by the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office.

Felon In Possession of a Firearm – ALL CHARGES DISMSSED
Penal Code section 29800

Los Angeles County – Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Courthouse (CCB)

My client was alleged to have been in possession of a firearm after LAPD had essentially approached him for simply being black and at his own place of work as the sun was going down.  After a 3 month long motion to suppress evidence where I not only successfully proved to the judge that the officers had no legal cause to contact my client and all the evidence was thrown out, I also found out that both of the police officers had purposefully withheld evidence as I obtained police reports that completely contradicted each other – written by the exact same officers!

Sexual Battery – 8 hours Community Service, No Jail, No Sex Registration
Penal Code section 243.4(e)(1)
Los Angeles County – Airport Courthouse

My client had been accused of sexual battery, but he had some mental problems which I believe made him act out.  The prosecutors initially wanted jail time and sex registration pursuant to Penal Code section 290.  I took over from the Public Defender’s Office, and after speaking with the prosecutor, I was successfully able to plead him to an offense where he would not have to register as a sex offender, not receive any jail time, and only had to perform 8 hours of community service!

Prostitution Case Dismissed
Penal Code section 647(b)
Los Angeles County – Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Courthouse (CCB)

Client was accused of prostitution after undercover bust, after some light community service the District Attorney dismissed the charges.

Four Past Cases with Multiple Probation Violations – Expunged
Los Angeles County – Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Courthouse (CCB)

My client had been convicted of several counts over 15 years ago where my client had repeatedly violated the probation in each case by committing new offenses, which usually makes an expungement much harder to obtain.  After submitting my arguments to the judge for four different cases, the judge granted my expungement request and cleared my client’s entire criminal record in Los Angeles County.

Prostitution CaseDismissed
Penal Code section 647(b)
Los Angeles County – Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Courthouse (CCB)

Client was accused of prostitution after undercover bust.  Despite the fact that my client lived out of state, she was able to complete some light community service and receive a dismissal after I spoke with the prosecutor.

Serious Domestic Violence with Injuries – No Jail Time or Restraining Order
Penal Code section 273.5
Los Angeles County – Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Courthouse (CCB)

My client, a husband, had been accused of domestic violence after an argument with his wife.  This was uncharacteristic of him according to everyone the couple knew;  alcohol was also involved.  My concerns were 1) jail time, and 2) keeping the family together, as they wanted to stay together and domestic violence prosecutors will issue a restraining order the first day of court which would prevent them from living together or even speaking on the phone.  I successfully avoided having a restraining order issued on that first day of court, they were allowed to go home together to their child, and obtained a favorable outcome for my client, avoiding all jail time with some community service.

Drug Case – Completely Dismissed After Guilty Plea 20 Years Ago
Health and Safety Code section 11350
Los Angeles County – Downey Courthouse

My client had previously entered a guilty plea for a drug possession offense decades ago.  After I took his case, I filed a successful motion based on new California law that stated he was allowed to withdraw his plea because his prior plea for possession would affect his immigration status.

Drug Possession Case – Diversion Granted – No Official Conviction
Health and Safety Code section 11350

My client was wrongfully accused of shoplifting from a local store.  After a meeting with the City Attorney’s office, all the charges were completely dropped and no court case was ever filed.

Drug Case Completely Dismissed After Guilty Plea 10 Years Ago
Health and Safety Code section 11350
Los Angeles County – Bellflower Courthouse

Domestic Violence Case – All Charges Dropped
Penal Code section 273.5
Los Angeles County – Clara Shotridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center (CCB)

Grand Theft Case – Charges Reduced to Misdemeanor with No Jail Time
Penal Code section 487
Los Angeles County – Airport Courthouse

A mother hired me because her daughter had just been arrested for felony grand theft of items worth over $5,000.  I visited her in jail that same day and I successfully negotiated that her charges would be reduced to a misdemeanor.  Even more, I called the store and successfully reduced the amount of money they wanted for the alleged theft by over $3,000 and they in fact thought more merchandise was stolen than what was reported!

Felon In Possession of Firearm – Received Probation & No Jail Time!
Penal Code section 29800
Riverside County – Hall of Justice

My client was accused of firing a weapon in his back yard, and it was illegal for him to even possess the weapon because he had a prior felony conviction from years past.  After I spoke with the prosecutor, I received a favorable deal for my client where he would receive no jail time and only probation, despite the fact that he was looking at 4 years if convicted and the initial offer from the DA was for 1 year of jail.  My client was able to keep his job, his home, and be around for his family.

Vandalism Over $950 – No Jail Time, Community Service Only, Kept License
Penal Code Section 594
Los Angeles County – West Covina Courthouse

Client was accused of vandalizing several cars.  The prosecutor wanted jail time and to suspend my client’s license, despite the fact that he needed to drive for work.  I found out that the reason the prosecutor wanted to suspend the license was that they had not even realized the law regarding vandalism had changed over 5 years ago – and it was up to the judge, in his discretion, whether or not to suspend a license although it had formerly been mandatory.  Needless to say, my client walked out with no jail time, some community service, and his driver’s license still in-tact.
